Can you view the transfer portal? ›

How do you view which athletes are in the transfer portal? The transfer portal is not public, it is only administrators and coaches for NCAA schools that have access to it. The moment any player enters his or her name on the portal it becomes viewable by coaches from different schools.

USA Basketball finalized its men's roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 12-player roster includes LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, Kawhi Leonard*, Devin Booker, Jrue Holiday, Anthony Davis, Anthony Edwards, Bam Adebayo, Derrick White and Tyrese Haliburton.

It is an almost impossible situation as some college program or the other is likely to be interested. Yet, if a player were to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal and no team picks him up, he would not be playing that season. That does not mean he cannot go to school as they can transfer to be just a full-time student.

Graduate Transfers In The Portal

The graduate transfer rule allows basketball players to transfer institutions without a redshirt year as long as they completed a bachelor's degree before leaving their institution and have eligibility remaining on their five-year clock.

The NCAA Transfer Portal is only accessible to NCAA Division I (DI), Division II (DII), and Division III (DIII) coaches and administrators. NAIA and two-year colleges do not have access to the NCAA Transfer Portal. For college student-athletes, deciding to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal can be a game-changer.

‍ Entering the Transfer Portal may impact your current scholarship as early as the next term, even if you do not end up transferring out. ‍Scholarships do not always transfer across schools.

According to NCAA rules, a college basketball team can have up to 15 players on its roster, although not all teams carry the maximum number of players.

The compliance office can use the pdf feature to provide a transfer tracer to a coach. Coaches DO NOT have access to the MY TRANSFERS tab; therefore, they cannot see any of their institution's student-athletes entered in the transfer portal.

If you decide to stay after initiating the transfer, your scholarship could be at risk, as your current school may rescind future scholarship offers or allocate them to other student-athletes. To access the NCAA Transfer Portal, you will need to provide written notice to your college's designated administrator.

The NCAA will no longer limit the amount of times that athletes can transfer schools. Previously, athletes were allowed to transfer one time and play immediately, but they had to sit out a full year if they transferred schools a second time without a waiver.

When did NIL start? Effective July 1, 2021, the NCAA approved name, image, and likeness policy allows student-athletes to monetize their NIL.

While it is a violation to speak to a coach from a different school before entering the NCAA Transfer Portal, you are permitted to speak to student-athletes and alumni at any time to gain a better understanding of the prospective program.

The Fall/Winter Transfer Portal

The most recent fall/winter window officially opened on December 4, 2023, and closed on January 2, 2024, giving athletes 30 days to enter the portal at the end of the regular season.

Student-athletes who plan to enroll as graduate students at their next school can enter the portal at any time during the academic year but must enter the portal prior to the conclusion of their respective sports' final transfer windows.
